The ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam was built specifically with Kira Yamato in mind, alongside the ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice Gundam (for Athrun Zala) and was comissioned by Lacus Clyne. Kira recieved it when he rushed into space piloting Cagalli Yula Athha's Strike Rogue in an attempt to defend the Eternal from an ambush by ZAFT forces. Kira eventually had to dock the heavily-damaged Strike Rouge onto the Eternal, after a heartfelt reunion with Lacus, she presented him with the new Gundam. With new power, Kira returned to the ongoing battle outside where he destroyed the attackers with ease, and his "Newtype" powers awoke for the first time. The Strike Freedom Gundam traveled to the Earth and back, changing the tide of the war trying to bring peace once again. The war finally ends at the end of Cosmic Era 73, and the Strike Freedom Gundam remained primarily intact despite a heated battle with Rey Za Burrel's ZGMF-X666S Legend Gundam. The Strike Freedom Gundam then returned to obscurity, ready for operation should any need arise.
