THE DOMAIN

On August 26th, 2003, a star was born. Somewhere. In another corner of the galaxy, kira.nu was born as well. ;D

Which would make this site four years old! I dunno about you, but I'm pretty damned excited. So excited that I actually stopped playing World of Warcraft for a few hours and gave it a whole new look! More on that below.

Four years is a pretty long time for a domain anymore, especially one named after a character. In case you're new, that character is Kira Yamato from Gundam SEED (plug plug Radiance pluggity-plug). SEED is pretty much a constant presence in my sad little life, and thus the domain stays. ♥

THE LAYOUT

The following contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. Proceed with caution!

This layout, while I'm sure it appears to be simply girly and cute at first glance, is kind of a paradox. For one thing, it's pretty clear I couldn't decide whether or not to have the layout based on Euphemia or Suzaku/Euphemia, and I guess it kinda ended up being both, but I think it works anyway. Right? *crickets* Anyway, I decided to integrate a song into the layout, which is "Leave Out All The Rest" by Linkin Park.

Why the combination? It came to me kind of randomly, to be honest. As you hopefully already know having read past the spoiler warning, Lelouch accidentally uses the Geass power on Euphemia, causing her to think she should kill all Japanese people; she ends up starting a massacre ending in the death of hundreds and hundreds of Japanese / Elevens. To stop her, Lelouch has no choice but to shoot her himself, which turns off the Geass but also mortally wounds her. Suzaku, who doesn't have the heart to tell her what she's done, stays with her as she dies.

I was always a fan of the Suzaku/Euphemia pairing, and "Leave Out All The Rest" (or some of it, anyway) reminded me of the pairing, post-disaster. Though Euphemia fortunately never knew what she'd been forced to do, she would have wanted to be remembered for all the good she'd willingly done - especially by Suzaku, whom she loved - and for him to 'leave out all the rest', if you will.

And that's pretty much the gist of it.

DISCLAIMER

Code Geass and its respective characters do not belong to me. "Leave Out The Rest" belongs to Linkin Park. I've never claimed to own either, so please don't sue me because I don't have any money. This site may or may not be 100% clean and valid XHTML / CSS; frankly, I'm not here to impress anyone. :P
